Discussing Israel: Beyond Dispute and Controversy

In many ways Israel is at the center of the Jewish world, yet we often avoid discussing it, so as not to raise controversy. Is there a way to talk about Israel in an objective manner? How can we best address these topics to diverse audiences? In this session, we will delve into these challenges and explore some practical skills to help us navigate them.

Behind the Headlines in Israeli News

Israel is a country that is as diverse, as it is complicated. Together we will explore the hottest topics in Israeli public discourse today (subject to change at any given minute). We will try and understand the different sides of the issues, and what diverse opinions Israelis hold on the matter.

Having Productive Arguments about Israel (and other topics)

What does the Bible really say about violence? About marriage? About men and women? The Bible has been reinterpreted and misinterpreted almost from the day it was written, so most people reading the Bible now have very little sense of the original text. We'll peel back 2,000 years of revisionism and take a look at the Bible as it originally was.

Zionism(s) - Then and Now

What does it mean to be a Zionist? Zionism didn’t begin with Herzl, and it didn’t end in 1948. From ancient longing for return to modern movements, Zionism has taken many forms and meanings. In this interactive session, we’ll explore how different visions of Zionism resonate (or clash) and what Zionism means to each and every one of us today.

More than just Falafel - Bringing Israel Education to Life

Beyond falafel and festivals, what makes Israel education truly transformative? This session explores how principles and theories of experiential learning can strengthen Israel education in any setting. We’ll look at how intentional experience design, reflection, and learner-centered practice can move us beyond information-sharing toward deeper meaning-making.

Ed-Tech Workshops

Ed-Tech - It's about the Ed, not the Tech
From the art of transmitting information through developing independent learners to assessment, technology has a lot to offer the educational world. In this workshop, we will introduce a variety of ed-tech tools and understand how they can best be used in our classroom to further our educational goals. By examining our educational objectives and familiarizing ourselves with different types of products, we can pinpoint the correct tools to help us reach them.

Chat-GPA: Where AI meets Education
Can CHAT-GPT write my students’ papers? Is there a way to use DALL-E-2 to enhance creativity, for ourselves and our students? In this session, we will take a closer look at various Artificial Intelligence platforms, with an emphasis on how they can be used in educational settings. We will also discuss some of the challenges that AI presents and explore different strategies for addressing them.

Plugging In to Our Emotions: Can we use Technology to help teach Social and Emotional skills?
Is technology a hindrance to our students’ social and emotional development? Or can we perhaps harness the power of technology to help in those fields? In this workshop we will take a deeper look at the role technology plays in our students’ lives and how we can leverage it to help them grow.

Other Educational Workshops

Teaching Students, not Material: How to create Student-Centered learning.
If you believe that education is about more than passing over knowledge, this workshop is for you. We will take a closer look at our classroom setting and discuss practical ways to use the learning experience to help our students develop and grow. We will discuss what it is a student needs to succeed, and how we can help them develop these skills within the learning framework.

Can School be like Summer Camp? Bringing Experiential Learning to the classroom.
What is the best way to learn? Is it only by sitting at desks and copying from the board? And if not, can we change the way we teach in the classroom? In this workshop we will explore the world of experiential learning. We will discuss some of the leading theories in the field, and learn some practical tools for implementing them within the school setting.

Building Resilient Jewish Children
How can we help our children (and ourselves) grow into confident, adaptable, and proud Jews? In this session, we’ll explore strategies for nurturing resilience in the next generation. Together we’ll reflect on practical ways to help our young people thrive as strong, grounded, and joyful Jews in today’s complex world.

Eilu V’Eilu (But Maybe Not Eilu?): Pluralism in Jewish Texts
The Talmud teaches “Eilu v’eilu divrei Elohim chayim”—these and those are the words of the living God. But does Judaism always embrace multiple truths? In this session, we’ll explore how Jewish texts grapple with pluralism, where multiple perspectives are celebrated, and where lines are drawn. What can this teach us about navigating diversity and disagreement in Jewish life today?
